Learn how to modify and fine-tune your animations using Plask's powerful track management and curve editing tools. Plask provides robust features for managing Animation Groups, individual Animations, and precise keyframe control through the Track UI and Curve Editor.
Understanding Animation Structure
Before diving into the tools, let's clarify some key concepts:
- Animation Group: A collection of animations applied to multiple nodes simultaneously. Scene can contain multiple Animation Groups (from Apply motion, Direct light, Direct camera) that play concurrently.
- Animation: A series of continuous keyframes for a specific property of a single node.
Managing Animation Tracks
Tracks are the UI elements that represent Animation Groups in your scene.
Pan Track
Adjust the timing of entire Animation Groups:
-
- Locate the track you want to move in the Timeline.
-
- Click and drag the track left or right to change its start time.
Delete Track
Remove unwanted Animation Groups:
-
- Right-click on the track you wish to remove.
-
- Select "Delete" from the context menu.
Using the Curve Editor
The Curve Editor provides a graphical interface for fine-tuning individual Animations within an Animation Group.
Accessing the Curve Editor
Open the Curve Editor in one of two ways:
-
- Select a node in the Outliner, then open the Curve Editor.
-
- Double-click on an Animation in the Timeline.
Understanding the Curve Editor
- The horizontal axis represents time.
- The vertical axis represents property values.
- Each line represents a different animated property (e.g., position, rotation).
Modifying Curves
-
- Select keyframes you want to edit.
-
- Drag keyframes to adjust their timing (horizontal) or value (vertical).
-
- Use Bezier handles to modify the curve shape between keyframes, affecting the interpolation.
Advanced Keyframe Editing
Fine-tune your animations with precise keyframe control.
Selecting Keyframes
- Single keyframe: Click on the keyframe.
- Multiple keyframes: Hold Ctrl (Mac: Command) and drag to create a selection box.
Editing Keyframes
-
- Select the keyframe(s) you want to modify.
-
- Drag horizontally to change the timing.
-
- Drag vertically to change the property value.
Tips for Effective Keyframe Editing
- Use the Curve Editor for precise control over easing and timing.
- Experiment with different Bezier curve shapes to achieve smooth or dynamic movements.
- Remember that changes in the Curve Editor affect individual Animations within an Animation Group.
